Ruth the Foreign Widow Gleans with the Poor
Ruth, a Moabite outsider and widow, goes to glean leftover grain at the edges of the fields — the provision of the law for the destitute. By chance she ends up in the field of Boaz, a wealthy kinsman of Naomi. Boaz notices her and quietly instructs his harvesters to leave extra grain for her and to let no one touch her.
