Malachi 3:8–12

Bring the Whole Tithe — Test Me in This

God accuses Israel of robbing him. They are offended: 'How are we robbing you?' His answer: 'In tithes and offerings.' The whole nation is under a curse. Then God issues the one and only dare in the Bible: 'Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this — see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.' God inviting a test is theologically unusual — elsewhere in the Bible, testing God is forbidden. This passage has been used by televangelists for a century. It is also genuinely in the text.
