The Glory of This New Temple Will Be Greater Than the Former

The returning exiles are rebuilding the Temple — but those who saw Solomon's Temple are weeping: the new one is nothing by comparison. God speaks through Haggai: 'Who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing? But now be strong. Be strong and work. For I am with you.' Then the promise: 'The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house.' 'In this place I will grant peace.' The rebuilt Temple was modest. But God calls it greater. The promise is not about architecture — it is about presence.
