Genesis 18:1–33

Three Visitors at Mamre

Three strangers appear at Abraham's tent; he rushes to feed them. One announces that barren, ninety-year-old Sarah will bear a son within a year. Sarah laughs from inside the tent — and God hears her. Then, as the visitors leave for Sodom, Abraham stands before God and begins his famous negotiation: "Will you really sweep away the righteous with the wicked?"
