Day after day Potiphar's wife invites Joseph to her bed; day after day he refuses. One day she grabs his cloak as he flees — and uses it as evidence. She accuses him of attempted rape. Potiphar has Joseph thrown into prison on the word of a lie.

Joseph was brought down to Egypt. Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the hand of the Ishmaelites that had brought him down there.
