Esau Sells His Birthright for Stew

Esau returns from the field exhausted and starving. Jacob refuses to share his stew unless Esau swears away his birthright — the inheritance, the blessing, the covenant. Esau swears. He eats. He leaves. "Thus Esau despised his birthright."
