Esther 9:1–16
The Jews Kill 75,000 of Their Enemies
Esther asks the king for a second day of killing. In Susa alone, the Jews kill 800 men, including Haman's ten sons, whose bodies are hanged publicly. Across all the Persian provinces, 75,000 enemies are killed. The king asks Esther: "What is your petition?" "If it pleases the king, let the Jews in Susa be permitted to act tomorrow also." The festival of Purim is then established in celebration.

Now in the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the month, when the king’s commandment and his decree came near to be put in execution, on the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to conquer them, (but it was turned out the opposite happened, that the Jews conquered those who hated them),
