Haman Is Hanged on the Gallows He Built for Mordecai

Haman, prime minister of Persia, has convinced the king to order the extermination of every Jew in the empire — and built a 75-foot gallows to hang Mordecai, the one man who wouldn't bow to him. At Esther's second banquet, the king asks again what she wants. She reveals Haman's plot against her people. The king storms out to the garden. When he returns, Haman has fallen on Esther's couch begging for mercy. "Will he even molest the queen in my own house?" One of the king's attendants points to the gallows: "Haman had it made for Mordecai." "Hang him on it," the king commands.
