The Handwriting on the Wall
King Belshazzar holds a great feast, drinking wine from the gold vessels looted from the Jerusalem Temple. A human hand appears and writes on the palace wall. The king's face turns pale, his knees knock together. No one can read the words. The queen recalls Daniel. He reads: MENE MENE TEKEL PARSIN — "Numbered, Numbered, Weighed, Divided." "You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting." That very night Belshazzar is killed.
