Daniel in the Lions' Den

King Darius is manipulated into issuing an irrevocable law: pray only to the king for thirty days or be thrown to the lions. Daniel, praying at his window as usual, is caught and thrown in. The king spends the night fasting, unable to sleep. At dawn he rushes to the den and calls: "Daniel! Has your God been able to rescue you?" Daniel answers from the darkness. The accusers and their wives and children are then thrown in — before they reach the floor, the lions overpower them and crush all their bones.
