David Takes Bathsheba and Murders Her Husband
From his rooftop David sees the beautiful Bathsheba bathing. He summons her while her husband Uriah is on the battlefield — and she becomes pregnant. David arranges for Uriah to be placed at the front of the fiercest fighting and then abandoned, so the enemy strikes him down. He then takes Bathsheba as his wife. 'But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.'

At the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem.
