King Manasseh Burns His Own Son as a Pagan Offering
Manasseh, who reigns in Jerusalem for fifty-five years — the longest of any Judean king — rebuilds the high places his father Hezekiah had torn down, erects altars to Baal, worships all the host of heaven, and places a carved Asherah idol inside the temple of God. He burns his son as an offering, practices fortune-telling and sorcery, and consults mediums and spiritists. The text says he did more evil than the nations God had driven out before Israel — and used God's own house to do it.

Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah.
