Saul Falls on His Own Sword
Israel is routed by the Philistines on Mount Gilboa. Three of Saul's sons are killed. Saul is badly wounded by archers. Fearing capture and torture, he begs his armor-bearer to run him through — but the man refuses out of fear. Saul takes his own sword and falls on it. His body is hung on the wall of Beth-Shan. His reign ends exactly as Samuel foretold.

Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa.
