God Kills Seventy Men for Looking Into the Ark

When the Ark of God is returned from the Philistines, the men of Beth-shemesh look inside it. God strikes seventy of them dead. The survivors wail: "Who can stand in the presence of the LORD, this holy God? To whom will the Ark go up from here?" — and immediately send messengers to beg a neighboring city to take it from them.
